FAQ

What is the My Settings service for?

My Settings makes it easy for every Inter.net user to make administrative changes to their
subscriptions. The service is designed to allow our subscribers to make the administrative
changes they need as fast and conveniently as possible, by Internet.

When I browse My Settings, can I use the "Vissza" (Back) button on my browser
program (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, etc.)?

If you want to go back to the previous page when browsing My Settings, DO NOT use the
"Back" button on your Internet browser. Please always return to the "Main Menu" and then
to the page you want. (The Main Menu button appears on every page.)

What is the Administration mailbox?

When setting up your Internet access, your Administration e-mail address is produced
automatically. This address is identical to your login name (e.g. kovacs@hu.inter.net). If
you enter the My Settings menu with this e-mail address, you can make setting for all of the
e-mail mailboxes in your subscription. You can also change your dial-up password, activate
CGI storage, and find out the time used.

If you have another e-mail address - included in the package or ordered separately - you
can enter the My Settings menu using that too, but in this case you can only change the
settings of one e-mail mailbox.

Can I change all of the Administration mailbox parameters?

You can only change the password for the Administration mailbox, and any alias or mail
forwarding address assigned to it. You cannot delete the mailbox itself or change its user
(login) name.

Why do I get a "This page cannot be displayed" message even when other pages
come up?

1. The "My Settings" page can only be accessed from the Inter.net domain (after
connection by login to (
...@hu.inter.net). If you are connected to another service
provider,the page does not open.

2. This page works by the https protocol. Check whether you can open another https page,
such as our Webmail page
https://service.hu.inter.net/webmail/hu/.

If you cannot open any https protocol page, we recommend you update your browser.

What is an e-mail Alias?

If your full name does not fit into the maximum 8 character login name, which is also the
first part of your e-mail address, you can ask for a virtual name "on top of" the login name.
In this case, your mail partners only see the "Alias"
name@hu.inter.net address given by
you.

STARTING TO USE MY SETTINGS

When entering My Settings, please give your e-mail address and the password you got from
Inter.net when you signed the contract. For Hungarian Inter.net subscribers, My Settings is
in Hungarian. If you would like to reach the service in English, please choose English on the
selection page.

I. Mailbox settings

This menu point lets you do administration on your subscription's mailboxes, or set up and
delete mailboxes.

By default, one mailbox address is shown, which is the same as the Administration mailbox.
This mailbox is special. It cannot be deleted, and it serves as the entry point into the
Inter.net customer care service. It depends on the subscription you use how many
mailboxes you can activate in addition to the Administration (Main) mailbox.

In the opening window of the "Mailbox settings", you will see the following columns, going
from left to right:

Mailbox: Mailbox address. This shows the full address of the Internet mailbox.

"a": For ease of identification, the system marks the Administration mailbox with an "x" in
column "a". So if there is an "x" in the line, that is the Administration mailbox.

E-mail forwarding address: If you want to set automatic forwarding from an e-mail
address to an address of your choice, then this column shows the destination, i.e. the e-
mail address where mail will be forwarded to. If forwarding is not set, then this column stays empty.

Ic: Leave local copy on the server. If you would like to leave a copy on the server of every
mail received, then there is an x this column.

Beware!
Inter.net provides 10 Mb of e-mail storage for users in the default case. If you continuously
leave a copy on the server, your 10 Mb storage may fill up and will take in no more e-mail
messages. If it is important to store copies on the server, it is advisable to ask for expanded
storage or to regularly delete unwanted messages using webmail.

Storage: The Maximum column shows the maximum e-mail storage (expandable for a
charge). The Used column shows the total size of files stored on the server.

Delete: If you tick the box in the Delete column, then pressing the "Delete selected
mailboxes" button irreversibly deletes from the server the selected mailbox and all of its
contents.

Note:

The Administration mailbox cannot be deleted, and so there is no delete option here.

Possible number of mailboxes: Shows how many mailboxes you can set up with your
subscription.

Changing mailbox details

Click in the first column on the address of the mailbox whose details you want to change.

Note:

Every mailbox address is blue (link), and by clicking on it you get to the page where
changes can be made.

E-mail address: Change or set up the mailbox address. (Not possible for Administration
mailbox.)

New password: Write the new password here when changing the mailbox password.

Confirm password: Write the new password here again when changing the mailbox
password.

Forward messages to this address: If you want to send automatic e-mail forwarding,
write the e-mail address of the forwarding destination.

Leave copy of forwarded mail in the mailbox: Set whether you want a copy of received
messages to remain on the server.

Back button: Return to previous page.

Restore button: Delete entries you have just made.

Change button: Confirm changes.

II. Set up e-mail alias address

E-mail alias settings:

The opening window of the e-mail alias settings menu shows these columns, from left to
right:

E-mail address: List of existing mailbox addresses to which you can assign an alias
address.

Alias name: This column shows the alias name for the mailbox. If there is no alias assigned
to the mailbox, the column is empty.

Delete: Delete the alias name for the mailbox. If you tick the checkbox in the Delete
column, then the mailbox's alias address will be deleted. Complete deletion with the "Delete
selected e-mail aliases" button.

Set up new alias address

Press the "set up new e-mail alias" button and fill out these boxes on the page that
appears:

Target e-mail address: Write the address you want to assign an alias to.

Enter alias: Write in the alias name.

New address:

Add: Confirm the changes with the "Set up new e-mail" button

Restore: Pressing the Restore button deletes the boxes you have filled. This makes it easy
to delete entries if you wrote something by mistake or you want to change something.

Back: The Back button takes you back to the Main Menu.

III. Dial-up settings

The dial-up password is the one that lets your computer connect into the Internet. To
change it, write the "old" password you have been using, and then choose another. In the
"Confirm password" line, write the new password again, so that the system can be sure
there was no typing error. The password can be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8
characters long, and must include at least 2 numbers.

If you want to apply the new password, press the "Change" button. If you do not want to
apply the password you have entered, press the "Restore" button. To return to the Main
menu, press the "Main menu" button.

IV. Run CGI

A new Inter.net service is Common Gateway Interface (CGI), which runs on a dedicated
computer (a CGI server). The name of the new CGI server is "cgi.hu.inter.net".

Activate CGI running

To activate, click the "Finish" button. This creates two new directories in the home directory
in addition to "public_html" (which gives access to normal websites):

user-cgi-bin
user-cgi-doc

The "user-cgi-bin" directory stores the CGI programs (Perl, PHP). CGI programs cannot be
in subdirectories, only directly in "user-cgi-bin". (However configuration and other, non-
executable files can of course be in separate directories.)

In "user-cgi-doc" you can store your own files with CGI programs (this is not possible under
"public_html"). This is also the location of the Server Side Includes (SSI) pages. This gives
you more information on running CGIs.

After activation, exit My Settings with the "Exit" button.

V. Query time used

Click on the "Usage" link under the "Query time used" menu point. Here you can choose the
period and the level of detail you want to look at. If you choose HTML details, you can track
both the metered and non-metered periods.
