What is Inter.net Mobile Mail (IMM)

Inter.net Mobile Mail is an advanced messaging system which enables you to send and receive e-mail messages even if you are not at your computer.

All you need to use IMM is a GSM mobile phone capable of sending and receiving SMS messages.

Inter.net. offers this service to its customers under a pilot project.

Why you need IMM

Electronic mail facilitates the rapid and cheap exchange of information between users. Fast access and response, however, are important not only in the office, but also when you are abroad or on your way.

Although latest generation laptops and palmtops are smaller and easier to use than their predecessors, their high price makes them the stylish alternatives of office PCs rather than real mobile communication devices.

GSM mobile phones and their future generations are ideal communication tools for the impending age of mobile Internet.

In addition to the WAP standard still under development, SMS-based solutions such as Inter.net Mobile Mail offer GSM users the possibility to get connected to the Internet and communicate with other users having an Internet access.

Besides the option to read your e-mail messages, Inter.net Mobile Mail also allows you to get involved in simple, fast and interactive communication.

How IMM works

IMM users receive their e-mail messages in the same way as if they were sitting at their computer.

The sender, subject and first part (160 character) of the e-mail message appears on the display of their mobile phone as an SMS message marked with an identification number (e.g.: ID:1). The identification number corresponds to the number of messages not read with another e-mail program. If the user reads the message in another system, numbering starts anew.

Example for the use of IMM:

If the user receives an e-mail message to his/her address (or addresses – IMM is capable of monitoring an optional number of e-mail addresses), Inter.net Mobile Mail sends a notification message to the user’s mobile phone.

SMS received:

“ID:1 From xy@elender.hu Subject: Meet Body: 6 p.m. tomorrow at the usual place.”

SMS reply:

“Reply text 1: ok.”

In this example, the sender of the first message receives the reply “ok.” (or any other reply up to 160 characters) to his/her e-mail address. IMM is managed with SMS commands. Users may assign synonyms to commands (e.g. they can set the system at IMM’s web interface so that it would recognise the “Ret” as “Reply text”.)
